With the legalization of Thailand Medical cannabis, there is a big demand for medical cannabis growing, it’s not surprising to see tons of indoor farms and greenhouse expand into medical cannabis growing with horticultural lighting. Increasing LED grow light helps set up a more sustainable and profitable business model for many operations. So, let’s look at ways in which lighting can help your growing operation, and which lighting options might be the best for your application.
Commonly, medical cannabis divided in to 3 stages: clone, veg and flowering.

Clone stage:
Cannabis plants are considered seedlings until they begin to develop leaves with the full number of blades on new fan leaves. A healthy seedling should be a vibrant green color. Be very careful to not overwater the plant in its seedling stage—its roots are so small, it doesn't need much water to thrive.
- Cannabis Seedling stage (2 to 3 weeks)
- Warm temperature, around 22 – 27º C
- Relative humidity: around 65 – 80%.
- Low light intensity, blue spectrum preferred
- Light/Photoperiod: 18 hours of light / 6 hours of darkness.
- PPFD: 100-300 µmol/m2/s

Veg stage:
The vegetative stage of cannabis is where the plant's growth truly takes off. At this point, you've transplanted your plant into a larger pot and the roots and foliage are developing rapidly. This is also the time to begin topping or training your plants. Be mindful to increase your watering as the plant develops.
- Cannabis Vegetative stage (3 to 16 weeks)
- Warm temperature, around 22 – 26º C
- Relative humidity: around around 40-60%
- Increased light intensity / blue spectrum
- Light/Photoperiod: 18 hours of light / 6 hours of darkness.
- PPFD: 300-600 µmol/m2/s

Flowering stage:
The flowering stage is the final stage of growth for a cannabis plant. This is when plants start to develop resinous buds and your hard work will be realized. Most strains flower in 8-9 weeks, but some can take even longer, especially some sativas.
- Cannabis flowering stage (8 to 11 weeks)
- Warm temperature, around 18 – 26º C
- Relative humidity: around around 40-50%
- Higher light intensity, red spectrum preferred
- Light/Photoperiod: 12 hours of light / 12 hours of darkness
- PPFD: 600+ µmol/m2/s
