Temperature and Humidity Required for Cannabis Growth

Industrial hemp, a legal term, refers to hemp varieties that can be used for industrial purposes, which can be used for weaving or spinning, making ropes, weaving fishing nets and paper making. After the United States listed marijuana as a drug in the early 20th century, many countries followed suit and banned the use of marijuana. However, marijuana has multiple uses. Therefore, some countries legally allow the cultivation of some varieties of marijuana for industrial purposes.

As some countries open to private cultivation of industrial hemp, people are learning how to grow hemp themselves in greenhouses.

When you start trying to cultivate yourself, you will find that a series of problems follow. You will notice that temperature, humidity, light, soil fertilizers and even carbon dioxide and many more factors can affect the growth water of your plants, with good control, your plants will grow more lush and harvest more. , but if you start trying this before you know it, you could end up with the worst-case scenario - your plants die.

It may sound like growing your own cannabis is very difficult, but don't worry, I'll help you get the most out of your cultivation process.

First let's talk about temperature and humidity, the two most important factors.

  • Temperature

You need to know at the beginning, Industrial hemp does not have high temperature requirements.

It can germinate when the soil temperature is above 1°C, but the seedlings must emerge neatly. Generally, it is advisable to sow when the soil temperature is 8-10℃. Seeds can withstand low temperatures of 3 to 5℃ and lower temperatures within 10 to 15 days after germination; at -5℃, their growth will be delayed a little. However, if sufficient water and nutrients can be supplied, the low temperature at the seedling stage has little effect on the subsequent development and yield. Industrial hemp for seeds likes cold, and the large temperature difference between day and night is conducive to improving the yield and quality of hemp seeds.

Temperature Is Too Low

When temperatures approach freezing, cannabis plants are too cold to grow properly. Plant growth tends to be destroyed when the temperature is below 15°C, and even cannabis can be killed when the temperature is below 0°C

Plants grown in relatively cold weather can survive, but never as fast as those grown in the right temperature. Indoor plants are more sensitive to cold than outdoor plants.

Temperature Is Too High

While marijuana plants don't usually die from heat, heat can cause plants to grow more slowly. Note that during flowering, temperatures above 26°C (80°F) will not only slow shoot growth, but also reduce shoot potency and odor. During the flowering period, it is particularly important to control the room temperature!

  • Humidity

Moisture: Industrial hemp for fiber requires a large amount of water. The whole growth period requires 500-700mm of precipitation. During the rapid growth period (plant height increases by 4-6 cm/day), the soil humidity should be high. When it is 70% to 80%, the growth and development are the best, which is beneficial to improve the fiber production. However, industrial hemp is resistant to drought and barrenness at the same time. When seeds are used, drought has a greater impact on the vegetative growth of industrial hemp, and the plant is short, which has a slight impact on grain yield. Industrial hemp has a particularly strong growth potential, even in very barren land, it will not stop producing, but the yield is low, so industrial hemp for seeds can be grown in severely barren areas.

The ideal moisture level in a cannabis plant environment is between 40% and 70%. To measure humidity, you need a hygrometer. For most growers, an electronic hygrometer is probably the best option. It usually has an automatic function that provides more control than humidity. It's always good for indoor culture.

Ambient humidity is an important factor (temperature can also be adjusted).

If your plant moisture is below -40%, the plant will sweat faster. There will be no major consequences. Your plants will consume water faster. As long as there is an adequate water reserve, there is no problem. On the other hand, if the humidity is too high, your plants may grow mushrooms, especially during flowering. The stuff inside will rot very quickly...you will definitely need manual dehumidification to fix the mold problem and its consequences.

Finally, I hope that everyone will pay more attention to the above points when planting cannabis, and hope that everyone can have more harvests.
